Abstract: The stability of final slopes represents one of the key factors for the safe and economically sustainable exploitation of mineral resources in surface mines. This paper presents an analysis and assessment of the stability of final slopes in a mine of marl, with particular emphasis on the geomechanical properties of the material and the influence of hydrogeological conditions. Interactive limit equilibrium methods were applied using the student version of the GeoStudio (Slope/W) software, with the aim of determining the factor of safety and enabling more effective and reliable recultivation of final slopes of the open pit.
