Abstract: The demand for Green Infrastructure elements is being driven by rapid urbanization and global pollution. The elements of LID (Low Impact Development) technologies, as one of the solutions to these problems, try to simulate the natural hydrological cycles of the corresponding area by managing storm water. These solutions have produced exceptional results, as evidenced by numerous case studies. With these technologies, the prediction of the solutions themselves and the simulation of their operation is possible only through appropriate software. For the purpose of simulating the quantity and quality of runoff in urban areas, the United States Environmental Protection Agency created the publically available software SWMM (Storm Water Management Model) in 1971. SWMM has undergone a number of changes since it was first developed, and particular case studies were used to verify these changes. This paper demonstrates the SWMM model's applications through the use of LID technologies. The review was conducted not only in accordance with the application areas and the LID technique type, but also with regard to the software's historical evolution and all of its alterations.
