Abstract: Seismic activity occurred in the Valandovo epicentral area was manifested through a series of weak to moderate earthquakes from May to June 2009. During this period more than a 2000 earthquakes were recorded by the telemetric seismological network of the Republic of Macedonia (SORM) and seismological stations from neighboring countries. Many of these earthquakes were felt on the territory of the Republic of Macedonia, Greece and Bulgaria. The strongest earthquake, with local Richter magnitude ML=5.1 and epicentral intensity Io=VII EMS-1998 scale, was on May 24, 2009, at UTC 16h 17min. According to all instrumental data, our latest investigation of seismic activity parameters for this epicentral area pointed out the activity of Valandovo fault and focal parameters were determined.
