Abstract: The paper describes the implementation of a linear programming (LP) optimization method for distribution of household appliances aiming to minimize hourly load and consider the comfort preferences of the customers. The described method is envisaged to be implemented to allow customers to examine the use of their flexibility for various services. Namely, the paper shows how the method is applied for shifting the load to off-peak hours. To examine the effects of the implementation of such solutions, the LP based optimization method is simulated using a low voltage grid and typical households. In addition, the paper analyses how the optimization of the operation of household appliances contributes to improvement in the voltage conditions in the distribution grid.
