Title: THE CONCEPT OF RESPECT OF HUMAN RIGHTS AS A PART OF CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY IN NORTH MACEDONIA

Author: Darko Spasevski, Goran Koevski

Abstract: The core interest of the authors of this paper is analyses of the application of The United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights in North Macedonia. In 2011, The United Nations presented to the public the Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights. Although the non-binding normative text intends to serve as a "global standard of practices". The document itself is based on three pillars: (i) the State duty to protect human rights, (ii) the corporate responsibility to respect human rights and (iii) the need for greater access to an effective remedy for business-related abuse victims. Relevant national legislation and practices related to the current situation of the promotion and application of the principles promoted in The UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights shall be examined. Finally, the authors will give their reflections and recommendations on how to accelerate the application of The UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights in the national legislation and practice.
