Title: The production potential of some introduced rice varieties in the agroecological conditions of Macedonia

Abstract: Because of the necessary regeneration of the rice production of the Republic of Macedonia, comparative investigations of six introduced Italian rice varieties (Loto, Drago, Koral, Argo, Cripto and San Andrea) and two standard varieties (Monticelli and Biser-2), all of the species O.sativa L., clone japonica, were carried out. The investigation was carried out in the Kocani. Stip and Vinica - Blatec rice production regions during 1998 and 1999. Among the introduced varieties, best results were obtained by the varieties San Andrea and Diego.On the basis of the obtained results, the State Varietal Commission approved the introduction varieties achieved by regions and years of investigation has been analyzed in this paper.
