Abstract: The Republic of Macedonia is a multiconfessional and multiethnic country. This fact gives us the right to establish the basic dilemma in this paper i. e. to analyze the influence of religion on education in Macedonia. This paper contains the analysis of the fact whether it is necessary for the schools to have religious education ( religious instruction or religious education). In its second part, this paper deals with the question of the secularization and education and the fact that modern society passes through a process of de-sacralization, which means that the belief that supernatural powers rule the world does not exist any more.
