Abstract: Ballistic performance of aramid and polyethylene fiber composites, which are used for production of ballistic protection items, at ambient and higher temperatures, was examined. Laminates with different areal density and with a constant ratio matrix/fibers were prepared from the both materials and the ballistic property V50 was evaluated. In both materials a proportiona almost linear increase of V50 propery is observed with the increase of areal density. The advantages and disadvantages of both types of fibers at ambient and higher temperatures, from the applicability point of view are discussed
