Title: Artists, Lovers, Wives: Postmodern Re-Writings of Henry James‘s and Ernest Hemingway‘s Lives

Abstract: The paper discusses some of the aspects of the postmodern genre of biofiction and in particular the re-invention of the auto/biographical in the biographical fictions of Henry James and Ernest Hemingway. The analysis is based on two postmodern biofictions, Hyenes’ The Typewriter’s Tale and Robuch’s Hemingway’s Girl, concentrating on the representations of the central female characters and their uneasy traversing of territories which modernist writing opened and foreclosed for women.
