Title: Onion Smut

Abstract: Examinations were conducted during the 2001-2002 periods in the laboratory of Intilute of Southern crops in Strumica about Onion smut in the Gevgelija region. The causal organism is Urosystis cepulae Frost. (syn.Urosystis magica Pass.). The damage that the smut makes on the onion at the garden-bed is estimated to be around 50%, and at some garden-beds even more. The pathogens in the plastic containers were examined and it was concluded that the disease is transmitted through contaminated soil and contaminated seed.
