Title: Key Recommendations of European Institutions and Other International Organizations for Initial Education of Teachers

Abstract: During the last decade in the curricula for teacher education there were updates introduced by the Bologna process, and upon these updates the methodology for reconstruction of the European higher education area is based. The paper is an analysis of several strategic documents of EU institutions and other international organizations that deal with monitoring and studying of the system for teacher education. National education policies in developed countries are based on two concepts that have been developed over the last decade in international organizations that deal with issues of educational policies [Committee on Higher Education at the Council of Europe, European Commission, European Training Foundation, Stability Pact for Southeastern Europe, (Working Group on Education), UNESCO (UNESCO-CEPES), OECD, World Bank] and they recommend these to their members in implementing their national educational reforms. It is actually the concept of "a society that learns." The analysis of the documents indicates that changes in the national system of education are conditioned by international trends.These changes include not only the overall level of the system, but they also objectively condition the changes in the structure and content of study program for the education of teachers or tutors. Finding ourselves faced with the challenges posed by the global process and the opportunities it offers, we must respond appropriately and be careful in forming and building a policy of a system for teacher education.
